Carport Upper Austria – from the manufacturer, delivered and installed

Upper Austria runs from the granite Mühlviertel north of the Danube across the central belt around Linz and Wels into the Hausruck, the Innviertel and the lakes of the Salzkammergut. The industrial corridor between Linz, Wels and Steyr brings people here from all over Europe, and a driveway in a new estate outside Leonding or Marchtrenk looks much like one anywhere else — until the first winter. In the flat Danube and Traun valleys a stubborn layer of fog can sit for days and the snow that falls out of it is wet and heavy; around Lake Traun and in the Alpine foothills to the south there is simply more of it. Both cases want a roof with reserve rather than the thinnest structure that passes.

Every carport we make is designed for 250 kg/m² of snow load, built from S235 JRH steel, hot-dip galvanised after fabrication and roofed with 85/280 trapezoidal sheeting in 0.75 mm. It is made in our own works in Völkermarkt in Carinthia, and installed by our own crew rather than a local subcontractor.

One zone for the whole central region

Our crew drives to Upper Austria over the A2 and the A9 Pyhrn motorway through the Bosruck tunnel, or further west over the A1. The distances are remarkably even: Steyr is 205 km from the works, Gmunden 210 km, Linz 225 km, Wels 235 km and Vöcklabruck 235 km. All of them therefore fall in the same installation zone 5, which covers 201–250 km, with a flat surcharge of 700 € including VAT on top of the installation price — charged once per order, with no per-kilometre billing afterwards. Building law: the Oö. Bauordnung 1994

Upper Austria applies its own building code, the Oö. Bauordnung 1994 — neither the Carinthian nor the Styrian rules apply here. Open carports are, up to a certain built-over area, usually handled through a building notification (Bauanzeige); whether a notification is enough or a full permit (Baubewilligung) is required depends on the size, the position on the plot and how far the structure is enclosed by walls. That is a summary as at 2026 and without guarantee, and it is not the kind of question a website should answer for your specific plot.

The competent building authority (Baubehörde) is your municipality (Gemeinde); in the statutory cities of Linz, Wels and Steyr it is the Magistrat. Clarify the classification before you order — it can influence which size makes sense. Whatever route applies, the documents come with the order: dimensioned drawings and the technical data sheet with the 250 kg/m² design load. Between Danube fog and the Salzkammergut

Wet snow is the load case that decides a carport in this part of Austria. It falls at temperatures close to zero, holds water, and sticks to a shallow roof instead of sliding off — which is why the design load matters more than the look of the profile. Hot-dip galvanising, done by immersing the finished frame in a zinc bath rather than painting it on, is the second half of the answer: it is what keeps a steel structure sound for decades in a damp valley climate with salted roads. Prices, lead time and preparation

The single carport measures 5.6 × 3.36 m and starts at 5,490 €, the double 5.6 × 6.15 m at 8,570 €, the three-space version 5.6 × 8.92 m at 11,540 €, all including 20 % Austrian VAT (USt). Installation costs 2,750 to 3,850 € depending on the size, plus the zone surcharge. Production takes approx. 4 weeks; then we agree a date, and the crew is normally finished within one working day.
